La dolce Vita- Italy

La Dolce Vita

That's exactly how I feel every time I visit Italy.

Roman Forum

I have been in Italy so many times, but can not get rid of the hunger to visit again and again. Hunger for fabulous food, most delicious coffee, simple life style and obviously breath-taking scenery.

Last year I decided to share my love for Italy (and everything what comes with it) with my Dearest Mum, who never visited the Mediterranean cost before. To be honest couldn't choose better trip for introducing her to the best what Italy has to offer.

Coffeeing in Rome

Rome - is historic centre, so the journey started there. I invited my bestie to come to spend some time with us over the weekend as well, so got to see both of them and had brilliant time together.

The journey to the past started just after checking in the hotel which was literally next to Colosseum and Roman Forum (yay), followed by exploring the city by foot, eating out in neighborhood trattorias, watching locals in beautiful piazzas, tasting chilled light 'aperativo' at sunset, visiting museums, magnificent churches, drinking freshly ground espresso with gelato melting in the mouth, breathing in the air full of art, culture, love and allure. (So much excitement and warm feelings goes through me right now, simply want to book a ticket and go there on the next plain).

Morning view from Raito
After spending 2 lovely days in the city we went down south to province of Salerno which is next to Naples and you can find one of the most beautiful cost lines in the world- well known beauties like Amalfi, Positano, Capri..

Vietri sul Mare
We staid in little village called Raito on the top of the hill of Vietri sul Mare, in the lovely guest house owned by the local lady Ms. Concetta, that we could get proper local life taste and it was the best decision ever! She couldn't speak any english which was even more fun as we started to improve our Italian. Also she was feeding us the best home made foods every day- home made focaccia, sfogliatellas, crostatas, biscotti and after dinner digestif- limoncello of course :)

Vietri ceramics shop
Vietri are the least reliant on tourism and, perhaps, for this reason, the most authentic of the area's fishing towns. Since Medieval times, Vietri sul Mare, has been famous for its ceramics. There you can find many little cafes, cute restaurants and shops.

We traveled around with the public transport, thought (I didn't book car rental in advance, nothing was available at the time), but it wasn't that bad at all as we loved walking and the mountain roads seems pretty crazy for first time driving in the area. So we kept visiting local towns and villages, drinking local wine, eating Ms. Concetta's delicious foods, sunbathing by the sea and absorbing the local community and culture.

Amalfi cathedral
(I have to excuse myself as have no pics from the most beautiful place- Positano, cos from the excitement crashed my phone twice..grrr.. but peep that place is heaven on earth, I have to say- MUST MUST to visit!)

My mum loved it and keeps talking about our little journey until today. I loved it of course as I adore everything Italian anyway :)
