Tuk tuk life |
So here I am living in Cambodia, OK only a week yet, but I am settling in. Just yesterday I got myself little apartment, first apartment on my own (woop woop). Oh yes, and I do have work, basically that's one of the reasons I am here.
Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia is pretty small compare with other capitals especially in Asia, but vibrant and, as I can see, very fast growing. The diversity of people life styles and a way of living is huge, but makes it more colorful and exotic, well for me, as I landed straight from Dubai and to be honest haven't really visited much of Asia before.
Sunsets is freaking amazing |
So far my estimations are:
1. It is cheap if you choose wisely, but we are westerns so usually we don't.:)
2. I think I am only one who walks, it's cheap to use tuk tuks or motors, but after not being able to walk in Dubai I enjoy walking and getting to know the city.
3. It is very polluted, as everyone owns motors, maybe even few.
4. And they still cook, dry meats and fish, and eat on the street (literally).
5. Food in the shops is western prices, so I am not sure how locals can afford it.
6. There are no high street clothing shops.(yet)
7. But quite high level of hospitality scene.
8. It's not the cleanest place on earth, they are working on it, not that bad as India tho, but yeah, people have to be more educated.
9. Locals are nice and not annoyingly in to your face when you try to buy things.
10. Food are mixture of Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai and Chinese.. Noodles everywhere!
11. Khmer coffee is strong and black, just the way I like it :)
